Cross Borders 28.4.06

Stilimba (watch a video clip from the performance)

The first club evening features Stilimba, whose original, skilful and melodic world music can best be described as reaching from the coast of West-Africa via Scandinavia and the Caribbean Islands all the way down to South-America. The name Stilimba comes from the instruments steel pans and marimba. The sound of the band is characterized particularly by their original choices and combinations of instruments.

Stilimba´s first cd "Dale" is almost finished and a pre-release party for the cd will be held in connection with their concert.  "Dale" is Spanish and means Go! Come on!

Peali Mitra (watch a video clip from the performance)

Indian vocalist Peali Mitra will open the evening featuring Venkatesh Josyer (violin) and Sami Ronka (tabla).

Peali Mitra is a fantastic singer and artist of the All India Radio. She will be accompanied by a fellow artist of the All India Radio, Venkatesh Josyer, who will be making a rare appearance in Finland.

DJs Soma and Reso-Nation will be creating the atmosphere with exquisite selections for listening and dancing pleasure.  Also, Robin DeWan, the father of Cross Borders and didgeridoo player, will hit the stage.
