The school is located on the main campus of the George Washington University and offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The building consists of six below-grade stories used for lab space, parking, and mechanical systems, as well as eight above-grade stories. The design of the Science and Engineering Hall combines flexible, reconfigurable spaces within common areas on each floor to promote collaborative thinking and to integrate lectures and laboratories with hands-on projects. Other key features of the building include: a vibration and particulate-free nanotechnology facility, a three-story high-bay including a strong wall and floor with easy access to a street level loading dock, and a multi-use auditorium and media center for science and engineering symposia and conferences. The building was designed by architecture firm Ballinger and conceptualized to meet the growing research needs of engineering disciplines.

The Business Fellow's senior economics thesis won the top prize from the Department of Economics. Martin, an international economics major, was selected to receive the Best Thesis award out of 23 seniors majoring in economics or international economics who successfully completed undergraduate research theses this year. Students work individually with a faculty mentor to research further topics and ideas that were discussed in class. Interestingly, Martin shows that wage differences appear to matter much more for low-skilled emigration than high-skilled emigration. Martin was mentored by Assistant Professor Brandon Sheridan.

Students are officially admitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences only through a letter of admission from the Dean of the Graduate School, and only students who have been admitted in this manner may register in the Graduate School. Neither registration for graduate-level courses through the School of Continuing Studies, nor admission to a graduate-level program offered by the School of Continuing Studies, constitutes or implies admission to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. All graduate students are required to provide official transcripts or documents showing conferral of all degrees previously awarded.
