Extra-axial collection with CSF-density on the left hemisphere, causing mild mass effect. Bridging veins that transverse medially to the collection confirm that the collection is located in the subdural space negative cortical vein sign. No signs of acute intracranial hemorrhage, or bony injury. These findings raise a differential diagnosis between subdural hygroma and chronic subdural hematoma. On a recent CT scan, that was performed just a week before the patient current presentation also for evaluation of head trauma , there was no abnormality in the left subdural space, lowering the possibility of chronic subdural hematoma.
Bleeding and Bruising: A Diagnostic Work-up - American Family Physician
Vivek R. Deshmukh, MD Frank P. Hsu, MD Jeffrey D. Klopfenstein, MD Stephen W. Spetzler, MD. Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas PXAs are low-grade tumors of adolescents and young adults that typically manifest with seizures. We report the second patient who became symptomatic with a life-threatening intracranial hemorrhage.
Metrics details. Dural arteriovenous fistula DAVF is an uncommon subtype among the intracranial arteriovenous malformations, which is characterized by pathological anastomoses between meningeal arteries and dural venous sinuses, meningeal veins, or cortical veins. While intracerebral hemorrhage accounts for most of the hemorrhagic cases in patients with DAVF, isolated subdural hematoma SDH is rarely reported. Further angiography of the external carotid artery revealed a DAVF at the transverse sinus. The DAVF was embolized via the middle meningeal artery.
Objective and importance: We have developed novel biodegradable polymer implants by using the rapid prototyping technology fused deposition modeling. Early results of a clinical pilot study for cranioplasty are presented. Clinical presentation: Five patients with the diagnosis of chronic subdural hematoma were included in the study. After trephination and evacuation of the subdural hematoma, burr holes diameter, 14 mm were closed using a biodegradable implant made of polycaprolactone.
